What are you/your organisation currently focusing on in terms of workplace health and wellbeing?

Eating lunch away from our desks. We have a lovely terrace at our office and we encourage people to eat outdoors.

What aspect of workplace health and wellbeing does your organisation do well in?

We collaborate well and problem-solve together.

What’s your biggest challenge working in workplace health and wellbeing?

Helping our clients understand that the culture of the workplace matters and that they have to put the time and effort into upholding acceptable standards of behaviour. The larger the organisation, the more deliberate their strategy needs to be.

How does WayAhead Workplaces add value to your organisation’s health and wellbeing program?

The sharing of knowledge and ideas is invaluable.

How do you deal with stress?

Home is my happy place. It is peaceful and the people I love most are there. It is a stress-free environment for me. If I am feeling anxious or overwhelmed about something I will go for a walk in the sun to give my brain a break.

What are the key issues and considerations for people in workplace health and wellbeing roles?

Ensure that any strategies being endorsed are evidence-based.

Ask your employees for input about what strategies and initiatives they think would be helpful.

Ensure employees participate in the rollout of any programs and initiatives.

How do you switch off from work?

Netflix – the universal “switch=off”!

What is your best time-saving tip?

I’ve taken up intermittent fasting which means I don’t eat until lunch time – I’ve been surprised at how much time it saves me in the morning!

What do you think the future of work health and wellness programs look like?

I hope it moves away from tokenistic strategies that “tick a box” and towards effective initiatives to improve workplace culture and build resilience in the millennial workforce.
